Elect Colin McLellan
Deputy Mayor, North Kawartha

An untraditional 'platform' for a uniquely beautiful Township
LOOK
Admire the natural wonder that is North Kawartha and commit to developing it responsibly.
LISTEN
Your input is necessary for Council to make wholesome decisions. I will host annual town halls as performance reviews and information gathering sessions.
ACT
Call the County Public works department when you see a large pothole, have independent ideas added to our agenda. Get it done.

Local government shouldn’t be overly complicated. It comes down to three fundamental steps: Look, Listen, and Act.
Look
Look at the natural beauty around us and let’s commit to developing it responsibly. Housing must be a priority of Council and construction is a major local employer but we must protect the environment and character that lead people here in the first place. Look at the constant town notices listing missed garbage pickups, the potholes, and the infrastructure that requires attention. The reality of what needs fixing is right in front of us.
Listen
Listen to the people. Most working adults receive annual performance reviews, local elected officials should be no different. I will host regular public town halls to ensure ongoing accountability. Furthermore, our current process suppresses community input by forcing residents to request deputation time on Wednesday, a full day before meeting agendas are even published on Thursday. I will change this policy so you have time to review the issues before asking to speak.
Act
Listen to community needs, then deliver tangible results. Meaningful accomplishments don't always have to be complex. They start with the core services that shape our daily lives: reliable garbage collection, safe roads, and expanded recreational opportunities - including a firm commitment to delivering outdoor pickleball courts at the North Kawartha Community Centre.
